Chad and I got invited to see Phantom and ride the Gondolas at the Venetian. We went out to dinner, then the show (which was fantastic, we were right under the chandelier when it came down) then we rode the gondolas for the first time ever! It was a lot of fun!

We are doing a big load of laundry as we write this, and we are thrilled!

We realize that to most of you this is probably a somewhat ordinary and kind of unremarkable purchase, however after ten years of laundromats, we are giddy about the purchase of our first major appliance.

Hi everyone! Nothing exciting has been happening lately, but Chad will find out in about a month if he has a new job or not. He applied at Zumanity, the Cirque show at the New York, New York. We'll let you know when we have the word!

I'm still temping at P & D. I'm not sure what my next move is going to be, but I have an idea where I want to go. I'll let you know if that turns out!

My mom and sister are coming down for Fourth of July weekend, and I'm really excited to see them! I know we just went down and visited, but I miss them a lot. We have a lot of stuff planned, so hopefully we will get it all done in time! I'll try and take pictures and post them after the weekend is over!

Chad and I's anniversary is coming up soon. I already know what I want to get him, since we decided to save up for new rings for our 5th anniversary instead. We are talking about a "wedding reunion" for our 5th anniversary, complete with the antics we normally provide, so it should be fun.

Here is my list of "Must Sees" in Las Vegas when all of you come and visit:

The Fountains of Bellagio. They are a must see. You will never believe that a bunch of water set to music will almost bring you to tears. Seeing it in a movie or on TV is nothing compared to being there and feeling the spray in your face!

Bellagio also has Botanical Gardens that they change out every month, and every month they are beautiful!

Eating at Roxy's Diner in the Stratosphere. An old 50's diner where your waiters are also the entertainment! They karakoke oldies songs and have a dj spinning your favorite 50's tunes. I'm a nerd for this kind of thing. The first time I visited Las Vegas I wanted to move and work at Roxy's Diner.

Ride the Manhattan Express at New York, New York. This floored me when I rode it, it was so fast I couldn't keep my eyes open! The first coaster I've ever been on when I saw the first drop and wanted to get off. And speaking of coasters;

Speed The Ride at The Sahara. I haven't been on this coaster yet, but it goes thorugh the casino, loops, and then you go backwards to get back. It looks awesome.

Sir Galahad's at Excalibur. Unless you are a vegitarian, you can't miss this prime rib. It's the best I've ever had in my life, and a regular-sized cut is $25, which isn't bad for the best in the world!

Red Rock Canyon will make anyone drop their jaw in person. Pictures don't do it justice. If you are the outdoorsy type, they offer a hike that I'm sure is beautiful.

The M&M Store/Coca-Cola Store-These stores are immense and great. Of course, on the third floor of the M&M store is one of the cheesiest shows on the strip. And it's free! Go and see the 3-D thriller "I lost my M in Vegas!" you won't regret it.

World's Largest Gift Shop-Just so you can say that you've been there...plus there are tons of stupid gifts to buy your distant aunt who just wanted "a little something from Vegas"

Stratosphere Tower- Don't ride any of the rides up there because they aren't safe. But go up and observe...it'll be fun.

Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas-The view of the Bellagio fountains from here must be spectacular! I'll never know...

The Largest Chocolate Fountain in Bellagio-oh it looks yummy. And there is a fancinating video of chocolate things there (Oh Robin, you are going to kill me.) Seriously, it's fantastic to see all that chocolate in one place.

Those are the end of the must-sees. There are others that are "nice." but you HAVE to do these things when you come.

Hello Everyone, we are back from visiting everyone in Reno and "the mucc"!

We visited with Chad's father and mother and friend's Juan and Laura our first day there! We rented a Dodge Durango from the airport that could have passed for a tugboat; it was so big! It had a Hemi, so we made it into town 20 minutes earlier than usual! Nothing was new in the mucc, and the next day we spent with friends.

The wedding was beautiful, Chad did a fantastic job officiating. Everyone complinmented him on the ceremony, and he was quite a hit. It was up in Tahoe, and the first hour there we saw a bear!

We are back in Vegas and glad to see our cat and be back to the daily grind. It was a great vacation while it lasted!

Getting Excited!

June 15th we will be coming back to Reno for a tiny visit. Actually Chad agreed to officiate a wedding in Tahoe (they are friends of Chad's) on Sunday, but we are arriving on Wednesday and heading straight to "The Mucc" to visit with everyone. I've been trying to get Chad to call everyone and let them know we are coming, but it seems this is the easier way. I'll still try and get him to call everyone tomorrow and let them know.

Thursday we are spending time with friends, hopefully we can meet with Bill and Tina for dinner on Thursday night. Friday I want to spend with my family, and then on Saturday and Sunday we are up in Tahoe preparing for the wedding.

I'm excited to be going back home, even for a little while. I really wish we had enough money to go down for the twin's graduation, but the price for airlines are sky high, and the time it would take to drive there we'd have to say hi and turn back around! Plus gas prices are just as high as the airlines...we just couldn't win. I'm hoping once we become better off we will be able to come up and visit.

So we hope to see nearly everybody very soon!

He Said, She Said...

Hi everyone! I know we haven't posted in awhile and I'm sorry! There has just been nothing going on! I had my maid of honor Robin here last week, and that was a lot of fun. We went and saw all kinds of stuff on the strip, and did everything free twice. Now she has left and the only person I knew here in Vegas Stephanie has left on a trip for 3 weeks, so I'm all by myself!

I'm back at P&D Consultants working, and we are working on a permant deal. I'll let you know how that goes.

Chad and I went to see another condo yesterday. I thought it had a lot of potential; nice big patio, a large living room, okay-sized bedrooms, and a fun sliding door from one bathroom to another! Alas, Chad didn't like it. He said it wasn't very well built. It was hard to say, I didn't want to look around to much because someone was still living there! That was uncomfortable, because the guy was just outside! I felt like I was snooping through someone elses home, so I didn't look around a whole lot. It was about 5,000 below our price range, so we could have made some changes, but Chad said no. Hopefully something great will come along before to long, we only have until October before our lease is up! And with our noisy neighbors, I don't want to stay there more than we have to!

That's all that is going on in our lives right now! I'll try and keep you updated!

Happy Passover everyone! My friend Stephanie was nice enough to invite me to her grandma and grandma's for a true Seder, which I haven't done since I was a kid. It was nice being in a room with a whole bunch of Jewish people again! Chad had to work but has decided he will jump on the bandwagon for Passover this year, so we are going without flour and grain for a week. Of course I just checked my chips hoping their were corn, and they are not. Just my luck :-) Oh well, now Passover is well under way and it's time to let the fun begin!

One Step Closer to a Crappy Condo!

Hi everyone! Chad and I went to see his old high school friend yesterday. It wasn't a social call though, she works for a realty office, and we went to see a few condos yesterday in our price range.

Apparently, our price range puts us in 70's retro kitsch! All the condos we went to see were pretty small and really old. One was right out of the 70's, with the brown shag carpets and avocado bathroom tile and everything. I wish that I had brought my camera, because it was unbelievable.

We still have a lot more condos to go check out though, so no big deal! We shall find our perfect condo or die trying!

A little Magic and a Little Disney

Hi everyone! Last weekend we went to Disneyland with Chad's friends Teri and Forrest. We took their 14 month old son Ethan, which made for an interesting trip. I haven't been to Disneyland with a really young kid since I was a really young kid! It was really cool to see Disneyland through a child's eyes. Of course being a child we didn't get to do a whole lot, but I think it was worth it just to see his reaction to the things we did go on.

Last night we got to see David Copperfield at the MGM Grand. My Dad and I liked to watch magic shows together, and my Dad could always figure things out, but I think he would have a hard time with Copperfield. You could tell there weren't any mirrors or smoke (and no Dad, they didn't film it backwards!). All in all it was a most amazing show.

Hello everyone! I've added everyone elses blog links to the sidebar, so everyone can keep in touch with everyone! It's mostly Chad's side of the family, but they hardly ever keep in touch, so this is a good thing! Everyone start a blog and let us know so we can link you to our sight.

On a personal front Chad's week off turned into a whole lot of work! He's been working 12 hour days down on Fremont Street as an extra for the new Drew Barrymore movie called Lucky You. The director is from Reno, which makes it interesting. But the days are long and it's only a couple hours of actual work, so Chad is bored to tears.

I' m still looking for the "perfect job" but until then I'm temping and helping out my friend Stephanie's step-mother with her business. My birthday was last week and Chad and I had a nice day at the zoo, where we discovered that ravens can talk! An un-expected visit from "The Best Man" Forrest cut my birthday short, but it was a nice visit with him, and we visited him this last weekend and went to Hearst Castle.

Looking for a New Home

I thought it was about time for another update, even thought there hasn't been a lot going on! Chad is still working at KA and having a good time, I'm still working for the temp agency, although I took some time off to try out for Chad's job. I didn't get it so I'm still looking for a permanent job.

We both joined 24 hour fitness, so Chad can work out whenever he gets off work, and I can go swim in their pool whenever I feel like it, so hopefully we will be skinny pretty soon!

Chad and I are also looking for a new home, since we will be making to much to stay in our apartment by the end of the year. Hopefully we are going out later today to check out some homes that might be in our price range. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't come with more that 1 foot of backyard. So much for having a dog! I guess we could let him out one leg at a time!

Other than that nothing much is going on over here! Thanks for checking back, I'll try to update more often!

Happy V-Day Everyone! Chad and I spent Valentine's day...shopping for car insurance! Romantic, eh? Not a card or a flower in sight...we've already been married to long! I had a audition for Gatekeeper today that went alright. I don't feel overly confident that I got it, but I'm not already feeling sad because I think I messed it up. Hopefully I get the job and Chad and I can spend some time together.

The weather today was humid and overcast; It reminded me of the bay area, which got me homesick for San Francisco, even though I never really had a home there. I closed my eyes and imagined I was having lunch at the Old Spagetti Factory in Jack London Square in Oakland. It was a nice fantasy.

We didn't have a whole lot of time in Reno, but I think we saw everyone! We got to see Chad's Mom and Dad and brother Billy and his wife Tina, and my Mom and Dad and Sister! We didn't get to see to many of our friends, but we worked most of them in. (Sorry Guys!)

All in all it was a good trip and we had a lot of fun seeing everyone! Now it's back to the daily grind!

This year has been going really slow! We've just been working and spending time together. Chad is doing some experimenting with his appearance for KA, which is turning out quite well. I am still working at P & D Consultants as an office clerk. It doesn't pay a lot, but the people are nice and there isn't a lot of drama to deal with.

We are planning on visiting Reno again the last week of January, which I am apprhensive about. I don't want to see everything that's changed, but I miss everyone and want to visit with them. I look foward to visiting with everyone though. We have to start calling and emailing to make plans with everyone!

Chad decided to rush through traffic to be with me on New Years. Determination is a powerful thing, and we were together when the clock struck twelve. It was a great New Year, and we got to spend it together! Happy New Year Everyone!

Thoughts for a new year...

Vegas is preparing one of the largest single fireworks displays for the coming new year. It's partly because 2005 is it's 100th birthday, so they really want to party. I'm going to working New Year's eve at KA, of course. Why they feel the need to do both shows.... Anyway I should make it out just in time to see the fireworks, then be hopelessly trapped in traffic hell. Paige gets to go to a party though, which is kinda cool. I guess I'll probably hang on the strip for a while and be with my fellow Vegasers.
Anyway we hope everyone has a great new year. We look forward to 2005. I'm confident it will be good.

Good news. Your friendly neighborhood gatekeeper just got a promotion to Lead gatekeeper, along with a small little raise in the pay!! It's not a huge deal, basically I'll just be dealing with some ticket issues along with my regular duties, but it'll be nice. I'm amazed though at how upset some people we're that they didn't get chosen. No one was mad at me, or at least they were gracious enough not to show it, but I could tell that they were a little peeved by the situation. But for me, I'm happy as a clam.
Also I ran into an old high school aquantince at the show tonight. Misty Stewart apparently lives here and is in real estate. It was one of those funny ones where she came up to me and saw my name tag, which says Winnemucca, and suddenly she's looking at me closely, then I realized I knew her and started looking at her funny. We made recognition at the same time with an "Oh". I was amused. Misty and I were both Class of 95 at Lowry and I can't remember if we actually did any thing together or not. I think we were both Natural Helpers, but I have to look it up. Still, it was nice to see a familar face.

So last night I got my first celebrity encounter at my new job. Due to my paranoia that some upper level exec would get wind of this blog and can me, lets just say it was a certian blonde pop star with a recent penchant for getting married and drinking Pepsi. She was actually very nice, as we're her gaurds. It was the first major VIP we've had, and by major I mean that she was considered someone security needed to bring in the back way to avoid a mob. Now we've had plenty of people the casino or Cirque considered to be very important, but the geneal public wouldn't know. And a couple of celebrities who can keep a lower profile. But we are told to expect these big names from time to time.

Last week I applied for a job that happened to be connected to a temp agency, and I think I secured a job as office clerk for P & D Consultants! It's a little quiet office with about 10 people on staff, and they are all really nice people. I pretty much just help out, but when I keep busy it's really a nice job. Lets hope it goes from temp to permanent soon!

Mmmm... turkey!

We have turkey for days. It's a good thing dinner turned out or we'd be very sad. I made my first Thanksgiving dinner, and I am very proud to say it was delicious. I didn't cook too much, seeing how it was just Paige and I, but we enjoyed it all the same. Now we are preparing for December. Paige's Aunt Beth has generously offered to get us a menorah so that we may properly celebrate Haunukah, and I just picked up a tree for Christmas. It's artificial, so I don't need to put it up yet. I'll wait until Wednesday.

Well, I had my first day of work yesterday! The show is pretty good, but the even better news: I get a discount at Shark Reef! For everyone who doesn't know, Shark Reef rivals Montrey Bay Aquarium in more ways than one; their tide pool is a small shark and rays, and they have the only Hammerhead Shark in captivity in the world!
If you come and visit us in Las Vegas, remind me we can go to Shark Reef for $5.50 a person! It's usually $15 or more a person!
Come on down and visit everyone! We have something cheap to do! :-)

Well, I've finally landed a job at Mandalay Bay as an Usher for the show Mamma Mia!, which is a play made up of entirely of Abba songs. I'll be sitting around watching it, so as of November 8th I'll let you know if it is any good or not. Yeah Me!

'Ka'-ha-ha!!!

Well kids, I landed a job at the MGM Grand working with the new Cirque du Soleil show 'Ka'. Yeah!!! I'm so happy to be working in theatre again. My job/part is the Gatekeeper. It's really a glorified usher, but it's still an acting part. I will go in next Friday and start orientation, with rehearsals the following few weeks. The show officially opens near the end of November. You can check out more about it on www.ka.com.

Chad has almost landed himself a job as an actor with the new Cirque De Soliel show called Ka that will open next month at the MGM Grand. I'm still looking for a job, and it's getting harder and harder to find one. All the interviews I've had lined up were cancelled as soon as I got there, and one job told me they were hiring and I would be perfect, but when I did the phone interview they said they would call me and not to call them. I guess time will tell, but I'm sure we will land on our feet.

Well, since our last blog life has been challenging. Loading up the truck took all day, and the next day our legs hurt so bad from going up and down the stairs we were in really bad shape. We put about 2 hours onto our trip to Vegas because the Uhaul and Chad's car never wanted gas at the same time (FYI, never rent a Uhaul. The gas cost so much money my credit card called me to tell me I had a BIG amount of charges and they wanted to make sure it wasn't stolen!). We got there just in time to sign the lease, but they were draging their feet about us signing, so we didn't actually get into our apartment after dark. It was then we found that the apartments did not pay for a couple of days of electricity. We spent our first night on the floor in the living room. The entire next day was taken up by moving everything in, and we found out that technicians do not come out to turn on the electricity on weekends. We had to wait until monday. We drove across the street to the 99 cent store and bought a bunch of candles.
The next day we had to return the Uhaul, but our reciept didn't say where. We were almost all the way to Henderson before we found the Uhaul place to return it.
Finally Monday came around and the power was turned on! We laughed and high-fived to the light, and then shortly realized that this wasn't like Reno, where Gas and Electric are combined. The gas company is separte, and we had to call them to get hot water and use of the stove and the oven. We called, they won't come out until Wednesday. We then went across the street to get a hair cut, asking for a shampoo as well. That took care of our hair, and we took the coldest baths we have ever had in our lives. We decided while we were waiting to call the Cable company and get internet axcess and cable tv. Of course their computers were down yesterday so the internet axcess didn't come until today. And today the hot water comes, unless this comedy of errors decides to continue.
That is why God doesn't live here anymore. He left, and canceled the gas, the power, and our sanity. :-)

On the Road Again...

Okay, right now Chad and I are waiting to pick up the UHaul, and then it's let the fun begin! We have to load up all the boxes (over 100, 'cause they're small) and furniture, and clean too. All of this before 5 o' clock today. Then we turn in our keys and head over to my parents house to load some stuff from there, too. We're spending the night there and leaving around 6 o' clock tomorrow to make it to Vegas and unload it all. Wheeee!

Chad and I just got back from securing an apartment in Las Vegas. When I called this apartment complex they weren't very helpful over the phone, so we decided to make the 8 hour trek down there to clear some things up. It was a nasty 16 hours of driving in a 48 hour period, but we have made it back to Reno and we are not looking foward to packing! We will be there by October 1st. I don't want to give out the address on this blog because it is public, but if you email me (smpplefrap@aol.com) with your name in the subject line, I'll email you our address. By October 1st I will also have the apartment number.
On the upside the University finally got it's act together, and I came home from Vegas with a beautiful diploma.

Okay, not really. Chad and I have sort of started going out on activities to give people in Reno a chance to see us and spend some time before we have to move. Last night we went to a Reno Astros baseball game with some people, so thanks for everyone who came down and spent time with us. Tomorrow at 2pm we will be at Magic Carpet Golf Course with our good friend Kim, and anyone who reads this in time is perfectly welcome to come.
So any other activities that we make we will try to post here as soon as possible.

Sitting on the dock of the bay...

In truth we did no such thing, but we were in the bay area this past weekend, and had a pretty good time. Paige and I travelled to San Leandro to get away for a a few days and spend some time with grandmother. Unfortunatly, most of the trip was spent in the car, driving around. We attempted to go to Marine world, but when we arrived we blanched at the ticket prices. $45 ea. plus $10 to park. Then add food and any souviners and it would have been insane. Instead we caught a movie, did some shopping, and spent a nifty hour in an indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf place. That was cool. It will probably be a long time before we get to go back.

No gnus is good gnus.

Forgive the pun, but I've always liked it. Very little to report at the moment. We have found an apartment we like alot in Vegas. It's soutwest of the strip on the far west end of Tropicana St. I'm still checking Websites for Job info in theatre related stuff. But that's really about it. Paige and I spent Sunday in Winnemucca for my dad's 61st birthday. We had a very nice time with him. I have got to say I'm blown away by his garden, everything is huge!! We're are looking to head over to San Fransisco this coming weekend to spend time with her Grandmother. And of course hang out in San Fransisco. I'm hoping to get tickets for a show, but we probably can't afford it. Well see. Also, my birthday is this coming Tuesday. I'm going to be 27... I think. Yeah! Wow, that means I've been living in Reno for 7 years. Dosen't seem that long.

Some of you may have heard that I received a last minute offer to stay in Reno and take a short term position as an instructor for UNR's theatre. I have to admit that I was sorely tempted, but Paige and I decided that it was better to stick to the original plan. So we are still moving to Vegas at the end of September.

Hey all! Chad here. Well, we're all moved in and settled. It's kind of a shame that we're going to move in about 6 weeks. Tonight we are having guests over for dinner. Chance to break in all of that new cookware!!
Otherwise we're just taking it easy, trying to find our rhythm. Preping to go to Vegas. I'm sending out a few resumes and were looking for a nice apartment we like. We should be there starting October. I'm looking forward to it, I think it'll be a good challenge. Though I admit it will be hard to leave this job.

Hello Everyone! This is Paige, and welcome to Chad and I's blog! This is designed just for you to see what is going on in our lives and what we are doing. We will try to write something every week and hopefully keep you up to date on what we do.

So today is August 6th, so we have been married for almost two weeks now. How's married life, you ask? It's okay! We are busy moving my stuff into Chad's apartment and cleaning the place up. Currently there are about 7 bags of trash by the door, but they will soon be out. Our cat Kaos is taking my moving in well enough...I think because I feed her salmon she might like me better :-)
Otherwise all is quiet here on the front. I will write more later!
